“My husband and I held our wedding reception here. The service we received was excellent. All the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, the food was amazing and our room was beautiful and very clean. The staff were really quick at switching the room from wedding breakfast setup to evening do which was great as this caused minimal disruption for our guests.”
The magnificent Durker Roods Hotel was originally built in 1870 as a private residence and became the family home of entrepreneur, Sir David Brown, who built up the David Brown Gears business in Huddersfield and the David Brown Tractors operation at Meltham Mills. In 1947, Brown purchased a High Class Motor Business and acquired Aston Martin the following year. The legendary ‘DB’ series of Aston Martin motor cars, including the DB5 famously driven by James Bond, the DB6, the DB7, DB9 and the DBS were all named after Brown using his initials. The residence was converted in to a hotel in 1975 and since then it has established a distinct reputation as a principle venue for weddings, celebrations and all corporate events.
